Terrel Thomas is a partner in the Baton Rouge office. She received a Bachelor of Science in International Trade and Finance from Louisiana State University in 1996 and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern University Law Center in 1999.
Terrel was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1999 and is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state courts and U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana.
Terrel is a former attorney with the Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corporation where she managed and maintained several cases dealing with state workers' compensation defense, Second Injury Fund litigation, subrogation, including maritime and Jones Act claims, longshore claims, and Medicare submissions. She has experience in Second Injury Fund litigation, seeking reimbursements from the Board on behalf of LWCC, and Medicare-related issues, including settlements, submissions, conditional payments, and closeout letters. Terrel represents employers and carriers in Louisiana before the Office of Workers' Compensation, the U.S. DOL Office of Administrative Law Judges, United States District Courts, Louisiana State District Courts, and Louisiana Circuit Courts of Appeal.
Terrel has been a guest speaker at multiple seminars regarding workers' compensation to audiences that include claims adjusters, Employers/policyholders, human resources directors, healthcare workers, safety personnel, and attorneys.
