Alyse Latiolais, Of Counsel in the Baton Rouge office, practices primarily in the areas of administrative, labor and employment, and higher education law.
Alyse counsels state licensing boards in their day-to-day operations and serves as prosecuting attorney in disciplinary proceedings. She also represents boards and agencies in administrative proceedings, including before the State Civil Service Commission, and in state and federal court regarding terminations and disciplinary matters.
Alyse has a comprehensive background in labor and employment law. She has successfully defended employers before the EEOC and in state and federal court. Her experience includes matters involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Pay Act, and Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Discrimination law.
Alyse also provides diverse guidance and support to colleges and universities, including on policy development and application. She conducts institutional investigations and facilitates collaborations with local, state, and federal agencies. She has counseled institutions within all four of Louisiana’s public higher education systems. Alyse previously served as in-house counsel to University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she counseled the institution on a wide variety of contractual and compliance matters, including academic research, cooperative endeavors, real estate, housing, insurance, student discipline, employment, and disability accommodations. Alyse is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
In 2023, Alyse was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court as an Assistant Examiner for the Committee on Bar Admissions. She assists each year in the process of reviewing and grading examinations for applicants to the Bar of Louisiana.
