Carrie Jones serves as of counsel in the Baton Rouge office of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, L.L.P. Ms. Jones practices in the Healthcare section and represents clients in a wide range of matters including routine legal advice, regulatory compliance, fraud and abuse, licensing, Medicare/Medicaid provider enrollment, and Medicare/Medicaid appeals.
She works closely with hospital executives, medical staffs, medical executive committees, and physician leaders to address medical staff issues related to practitioner credentialing, privileging, and peer review matters that encompass practitioner behavior, health, and competence concerns. Carrie also works with hospital leadership to review and revise medical staff governance documents including Medical Staff Bylaws and related policies.
In addition to representing healthcare clients, Carrie has a wealth of experience in regulatory, administrative, and occupational licensure law. Her background includes working as the General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer for the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, where she participated in licensure matters, licensee discipline, administrative hearings, rulemaking, and legislation. She has experience representing both boards and respondents/licensees in administrative and licensure matters.
Carrie also advises academic institutions in matters involving research misconduct (allegations of fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research, or in reporting research results).
Carrie has held several leadership positions with the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. She is currently on the LSBA Board of Governors and is a Past Chair of the Young Lawyers Division.
