Richard G. Passler is an AV rated partner in the New Orleans office of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson.
Since 1992, after serving as a judicial law clerk in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Mr. Passler has primarily handled complex commercial litigation, including class actions, in areas such as antitrust litigation; litigation surrounding the dissolution of business ventures, including partnerships, limited liability companies and closely-held corporations; litigation involving breaches of fiduciary duties; governmental matters, including governmental ethics; healthcare matters, including advice and litigation; litigation surrounding mergers, acquisitions and hostile takeovers; state and federal income and estate tax disputes; construction litigation; environmental litigation; litigation concerning intellectual property (patent and trademark); insurance litigation; securities fraud litigation; unfair trade practices and anti-competitive claims and various torts and breaches of contract matters.
The litigation which Mr. Passler handles often involves intensive discovery, sophisticated motion practice, writ application practice, presentation of trials, and appellate practice. As a result, Mr. Passler has accumulated extensive experience practicing in the various federal district courts, state district courts, and state appellate courts throughout the State of Louisiana. This experience is partially reflected in his over 50 reported state court decisions and over 56 reported federal court decisions.Mr. Passler's practice involves representation as both plaintiff and defendant of numerous corporations, private individuals and various governmental entities.
