V. Joyce Matthews is a Partner in the Baton Rouge office of Breazeale, Sache & Wilson, L.L.P. Her primary area of practice is Environmental Law. She previously served as Senior Attorney for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Legal Affairs and Enforcement. She also served as a vice president for The Shaw Group, which was one of two Fortune 500 Companies in the State of Louisiana. While there, she was instrumental in developing the environmental audit program for the company. Prior to joining the firm, she was a Partner of Roedel Parsons Koch Balhoff & McCollister law firm.

She represents clients in state and federal matters involving the US Environmental Protection Agency, US Corps of Engineers, Federal Emergency Management Agency, US Department of Justice, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. She assists clients in all areas of environmental law including due diligence, remediation, permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental audits and investigations using all available privileges and protections to maintain confidentiality.
