Cullen Dupuy’s principal areas of practice include medical malpractice defense, insurance class action litigation, insurance coverage dispute, railroad litigation, premises liability, and general insurance defense (including health insurance, life insurance, automobile insurance, personal liability insurance and commercial liability insurance). Mr. Dupuy also has extensive experience representing law enforcement agencies against 1983 claims.In addition, Mr. Dupuy has devotes a significant portion of his practice to appellate practice.

Representative Matters

Represented hospitals in every phase of medical malpractice litigation, including the medical review panel, summary judgment, trial, and through appeal.

Represented law enforcement agency in state and federal courts in various types of cases, including prisoner suits and excessive force claims.

Represented several insurance companies in defense of class action claims.  Some of the cases Cullen has successfully defended include:  a class action filed against an auto insurance company alleging improper valuation practices for first party total loss claims; a class action filed against an auto insurer for first party diminished value claims; a class action against a health insurance company; a class action against a life insurance company.

Successfully defended railroads in crossing accident claims, pedestrian accident claims, and FELA claims.

Represented various types of businesses in defending against premise liability claims, including grocery stores, arenas, recreation facilities, and hospitals.

Successfully handled insurance coverage cases involving health insurance, life insurance, auto insurance and commercial liability insurance, as well as numerous property insurance claims including business interruption claims and contractors’ equipment claims.

Numerous successful appeals on behalf of appellants and appellees before Louisiana appellate courts, the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United State Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Has prepared numerous amicus briefs for individual businesses and trade associations.
